Stop feeling awkward in the gym

I tried a new gym last night…. and DAMN, I felt uncomfortable.
.
I’ve been at my current gym for ~3 years now. I felt awkward at first lifting weights in the “bro zone” but at this point I’ve gotten way over it and don’t even notice. Everyone kind of knows me now and is used to seeing me around.. hip thrusting in all areas of the gym 😂

But yesterday I checked out a new gym in my neighborhood. It was a sausage fest... with different sausages than the ones I'm used to. I stuck out as one of the only girls lifting. I was wearing short shorts, and honestly all I could think was “fuck everyone is staring at my legs right now & I have no idea where anything is and my legs look so large today and all these machines are different than I’m used to and everyone can tell that I'm new and so clueless here ughhh"

But... it was leg day, and this booty isn’t gonna grow itself. So I silenced this voice, got over it, and had a KILLER workout 💪🏽

HOW?

When I feel awkward in the gym I remember a few things:

(1) Even if people stare in your direction, they're likely not actually staring at YOU- they might just be zoning out in your direction. I do this all the time to people.

(2) Even if they're looking at you, so what? It's not like they're gonna go home and tell their friends how much you can squat or what shirt you wore. Looking at you is a 3-second thought blip in their entire day. You're not something they spend time thinking about. No offense. Do you go home and think about the people you saw at the gym + what they looked like? No. Neither do they.

(3) Think about your goals. Why did you come here? You could be in bed eating nachos but you chose to come to the gym instead. Why? To get more confident in your bod so you feel comfortable in a bikini? So you can enjoy a healthy life with your children? Focus on THAT. It does not matter who looks at you along the way or what they think, as long as you get there. Like, it legit does not matter at all. Zero.

Ladies the only way to get over gym awkwardness is to just do it. It'll stop feeling weird soon. Don't waste your life sitting around feeling awkward. Take that first step! 💪🏽
